Mike Walters: Mike is a principal of the Walters Nixon Group. He has more than 25 years experience handling liability claims matters. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida (1979), and the University of Cincinnati College of Law (1984). He has been admitted to the Florida and Ohio Bar Associations (but is not currently active in either). He worked briefly as a defense attorney with Fowler White in Tampa, Florida in 1984. From 1985-1990 he worked as the claims manager for Neare Gibbs & Co., the former river marine division of St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio. From 1991-1996 he was the branch manager for Lamorte Burns & Co.’s New Jersey office, handling and overseeing an array of liability claims. He’s been with the Walters Nixon Group since its founding in late 1996. He is a member of the U.S. Maritime Law Association (including the committee for maritime personnel), the Association of Average Adjusters, and the Marine Insurance Claims Association of New York, and the Trucking Industry Defense Association. Mike bills out his time as a Senior Legal Adjuster.

Jessica Maddy: Jessica received her Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University, and her JD degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law. She is admitted to the New Jersey Bar. Jessica has been investigating and adjusting all kinds of liability claims since joining the Walters Nixon Group in 2004. Jessica bills out her time as a Senior Adjuster.

Susel Taylor: Susel graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and minor in Psychology in 2001. She received her JD degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2007. She spent six years working as a paralegal during which time she acquired significant experience in the civil law field, as well as the claims process. She has experience independently handling hundreds of litigation files from beginning to end. She is fluent in Spanish, both spoken and written. She’s been with the Walters Nixon Group since 2008. Susel bills out her time as an Adjuster.

David Branda: David graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics in 2000. He received his JD from Rutgers University School of Law – Camden in 2003, and is admitted to the New Jersey Bar. David completed a judicial clerkship in the Hudson County Superior Court, Family Division. He then practiced as an insurance defense litigator for four years, after which he worked on a variety of matters as a contract attorney. He joined the Walters Nixon Group in 2012. David bills out his time as an Adjuster.

Connor Walters: Connor graduated from Santa Clara University in 2015 where he majored in Political Science and History, with an emphasis in United States history. He has been working for the Walters Nixon Group in a limited capacity since 2011, and full time since 2015. Connor bills out his time as an Adjuster.

Leslie Anderson: Leslie graduated from The College of New Jersey in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and minors in Politics, Law, and Philosophy. She received her JD from Rutgers School of Law – Newark in 2014, and is admitted to the New Jersey Bar. Leslie served as a judicial clerk in the Middlesex Vicinage of the Superior Court of New Jersey before joining the Walters Nixon Group in 2015. Leslie bills out her time as an Adjuster.

Steve Kennebeck: Steve is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point (1981). He has worked in virtually all aspects of the Marine Insurance field over the past 30 years. From 1999 through 2002, Steve was President of International Specialty Claims (ISC), a marine insurance claims and risk management consulting company. Prior to ISC, he held the position of Director of Insurance and Claims for Tyson Seafood Group (1992-1998) where he was responsible for managing the Claims, Safety, Training, Human Resources and Risk Management areas of the Seafood Group (36 vessels, 1250 Jones Act Seamen). From 1994 to 1998, he served on the Board of Directors of the company’s captive insurance company domiciled in Bermuda. From 1987 through 1992, Steve was the National Ocean Marine Claims Manager for St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company. He began his insurance career with Marine Office of America Corporation in San Francisco in 1981.

Ken Madland: Ken provides information technology support through Information Systems assessments for our clients with a special focus on security, IS management and continuity of business. Ken is a 1978 graduate of the Washington State University Honors Program with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Ken has been involved in many aspects of the computer industry. Since 1982, Ken has worked with numerous companies providing specialized development and integration services. These services have included building and supporting systems, designing and developing both small and complex software systems, performing system conversion services, training users, and providing consulting and management services for various IS projects.
